Ken Kipnis has been a Commercial
Photographer for over 70 years. A graduate of the New York Institute
of Photography since 1934.
Ken ran a very successful commercial
photography business on Miami Beach, FL for over twenty-five years,
and was also well known in the Public Relations Field. He opened
the first Color Lab in the Bahamas in 1965 and spent 10 years there
doing all types of commercial photography, from climbing smokestacks
to photograph progress pictures of an oil refinery being built,
photographing super tankers at sea transferring oil to smaller vessels
for delivery in the U.S. to photographing groups in conventions
and the products they were promoting. He also taught a weekly photography
course for several years at the YMCA in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island.
In the normal course of operating a commercial photographic business,
he had many occasions to photograph items to be used in ads in newspapers
and magazines. Many of the things were also used in brochures to
promote the business. Macro photography was the only way to be able
to complete the assignment.
In 1975, Ken moved back to the
U.S. and settled in Atlanta, GA where he opened one of the first
one hour color labs in the city while continuing his work in the
commercial field for his new customers.
