Jerry has been an avid Rockhound since 1995. He retired from Lucent Technologies in 1989 and Electronic Test Engineer IBM, 1996. Jerry has attended classes at William Holland since 2000 and began teaching in 2003. He teaches private lessons in cabochon cutting and lectures on Rock and Mineral ID in several county schools. As an active silversmith, he maintains a private shop at his home and has shown his craft at major craft shows and festivals in North Carolina and South Carolina since 2000. Jerry has been teaching Cabochon cutting since 2005.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

This is a Beginner's Class - No Instructors

This class is specific to the cutting and creation of cabochon stones. In this class you will learn the correct way to select a small slab of Agate or Jasper, mark, cut, grind and polish to a completed cabochon stone suited for jewelry or exhibition. The student will become familiar with the equipment and it's use and care. The first two days the student should expect to create calibrated stones, but as they progress in experience, the art of freeform stone cutting will be discussed and possibly implemented. Precut slabs will be available for purchase.

LAB FEE: $20.00. This will include your first slab. Others may be purchased from the instructor or you may bring your own.
